In 2010, I was in residence at LMCC's Governor's Island program as 1/2 of the drawing battle duo The Shining Mantis, but for the first month of my residency, my partner was away. I created the puppets of Intricacies as a way of making my own enemies to battle. The thing was, it worked out that I always lost- something that led to the development of my N.E.M.E.S.I.S. series.
